The meta description is a snippet of up to about 155 characters that summarises a page’s content. Search engines show the meta description in search results mostly when the searched-for phrase is within the description, so optimising the meta description is crucial for on-page SEO. Although meta descriptions don’t directly impact ranking they can benefit an advanced search, so ideally you should aim to focus on one or two unique keywords in the meta description of each page.

A meta title shows the name of a web page and is read by search engine robots and seen by site visitors. The title is displayed by the browser, usually at the top of your computer screen, and tells a reader what page they are on. 

A compelling meta description and title have the power to raise the click-through rate of your organic search results. That means more of the people who see your page in the search results will hopefully click through and land on your site. That means more traffic for you, even if your ranking stays the same!

A dedicated careers site blog is a great resource for candidates seeking out information on the employee experience. What’s more, a strong blog page can act as a central, searchable repository for keyword-rich content that is relevant to your brand, boosting your overall SEO score.
